“The cabinet-makers held a festival ball on Tuesday evening, to which members of the governing boards of nine related unions as well as all the employers, in order to offer an opportunity to interact socially in friendly circumstances. The ballroom was decorated festively with banners, and womankind was well represented. There were probably about 1,400 to 1,500 people in attendance, and from beginning to end a peaceful tone reigned. Every participant had to admit to having had an enjoyable evening. The committee’s efforts had been successful in organizing the dance, and its arrangements satisfied all around.”
