“Tuesday, at the French Theater, a most delightful three-act comedy was presented. With its moral tone and dramatic treatment in the same style, the play, ‘Le coeur et l’argent’ or ‘Les petits viteaux [sic]’ by Labiche and Delacour, stands apart from the modern muster. We emphasize this, because it appears difficult for the French authors of our time to grapple with these types of themes. For a premiere, the production was quite secure; we praise especially the excellent performances of Messrs. Edgard (Blandienet), Roche, as François, and Donatien as his son.”
