“Another highly interesting performance, a new production of Shakespeare’s ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ with music by Mendelssohn Bartholdy, will take place next Wednesday. That performance will benefit Mr. Wenzlawsky, the deserving actor of good-natured father roles and other character parts.”
“…May this Shakespearean play meet the expectations of its beneficiary and the management, just as ‘The Winter’s Tale’ and ‘The Taming of the Shrew,’ etc., did.”
“Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ with Mendelssohn’s charming elf- and ghost-whispering music was performed yesterday at our Stadttheater before a full house. The performance was thoroughly prepared. The costumes also deserve praise except for the women’s costumes which were too modern. That praise will likely be realized through good attendance at the upcoming performances.”
