Review: New-Yorker Staats-Zeitung und Herold, 14 March 1864, 8.

“On Saturday evening the members of Troop D, 3rd Regiment, arranged a serenade for their captain, Capt. Wolf. Under the direction of Mr. Mensing, Wiegand’s Band was excellent. Especially splendid was its performance of Schubert’s Ständchen. The same tribute was later paid to the First Lieutenant, Mr. Wifler. The impetus for this celebration was Capt. Wolf’s determination, and also his willingness to dedicate his and his company’s services in the future to the Regiment. Later the requisite lunch took place at Mr. Albert Nägler’s, 111 Spring St., where toasts were given.”
