“[The Atlantic Garden] was arrayed yesterday in full holiday adornment; from column to column and from arch to arch colorful paper garlands hang, and the poles are adorned with colored banners, under which the German and American colors prevail, and the beautiful oleander bushes and other plants lend much to the beautification of this locale.  In the daytime these decorations afford a very lovely sight.  Yesterday afternoon and evening a grand concert with Mr. Heidenreich’s enlarged band took place; it received much applause for the ‘Grand Battle Potporri,’ the high point of the concert.”
