“This place was filled by a most fashionable audience.  The programme was most attractive—an operetta in one act, a comedy and a vaudeville.  In the operetta Mlle. Maillet, who made so successful a debut a few evenings ago, was charming.  She sings well and acts with great spirit. . . . M. Juignet played the part of Jean la Sot exceedingly well.  Mr. Edgard, as the fop, was very funny.  This artist is certainly very clever.
. . . Now that he has secured the services of Mlle. Maillet, we shall doubtless also have operettas and selections from Offenbach’s repertoire.  This promises most attractive performances at the Theatre Francais.”

Incorrectly says there was a performance on Wednesday instead of on Tuesday.  “[T]he enterprise of Mr. Juignet is realizing a well-merited success.  On Wednesday and at the extra performance on Thursday, the house was crowded.”
