“Chol made his debut at this theatre with great success. . . . [Maillet] played her part well and sang her couplets successfully; but she dressed in very bad taste.  The public expects that the artistes at the French theatre shall be dressed in the most becoming manner. A word to the wise, &c. Mme. Donatien was admirable as the ex-vivandiere. This artiste is certainly destined to become a great favorite.

. . . We must call the attention of the management to the length of the entre-actes.  They wear out the patience of the public. . . .

There was a large audience present last Thursday night. It  is evident that the Theatre Francais has become a favorite resort of the beau monde.”
