“THE UNION-SQUARE FAIR BUILDING—CONCERTS . . . THE CONCERT ROOM.
Another entertainment was given in the Concert Hall last night, by the children of the Tenth Ward Public Schools.  The songs and choruses sung by these children were given in the best manner.  Three hundred children, with fresh young voices well trained, singing in concert some grand chorus from a favorite opera, offer a musical treat seldom heard in any city on this continent. . . .

In conjunction with the concert an exhibition drill was given by a company of young soldiers, the oldest of whom could not have been over twelve. . . . The room was so crowded during the performance that not even standing room could be had inside the door.”
