Review: New-Yorker Staats-Zeitung und Herold, 31 March 1864, 8.
“The re-opening of this theater after the Holy Week break, took place on Tuesday. ‘Les filles de marbre’ by Berier [sic] and Thiboust [sic] was performed for the last time this season, and it went quite well. Mr. Fayo played the role of Raphael with considerable accomplishment; however, we would have counselled him to speak rather than whisper in the last scene of the last act: the audience had to strain to follow the movement of his lips in order to guess what he was saying. Messrs. Gravier and Donatien were quite excellent, and Madame Levifleur [name is somewhat illeg.] and Miss Anna Hamburg manifested a keen understanding of their respective roles.”
