“Mrs. Wood has got her new extravaganza in admirable working order, and it takes like the first run of shad.  Mrs. W. rattles through her many parts with much vehemence and fiery ardor, and is as great a favorite in her regimentals as Little Mac is in his. . . . Frank Drew’s operatic gem ‘fetches ‘em’ every time, for he sings as cleverly and as comically in this piece, as he rode in the horse piece in the celebrated equestrian act without saddle or bridle.”

“Mr. Mortimer, of Mrs. Wood’s Olympic, was so decidedly ‘indisposed’ on Wednesday evening last that he forgot his text in his part in ‘Our Wife,’ and was immediately and very properly given his ticket of leave.  After the first act, stage manager Selwyn went on and finished the role.  On the following evening Frank Drew took the character.  Mortimer, aside from his ‘indisposed’ proclivities, was becoming quite a favorite here.  We had warned him against ‘indiscretions.”
