“POMP OF CUDJO’S CAVE . . . with characteristic scenery, appropriate costumes, splendid music and STARTLING EFFECTS.”

Review: New York Post, 28 April 1864, 2.
“Between the acts [of Cudjo’s Cave] occur those amazing interludes which are only to be found at the Museum. The giant girl and a giant man, attended by a tiny dwarf, appear before the curtain and show the extremes of human formation. Mr. Stoepel educes most remarkable music from his wood and straw instrument, playing with a dexterity and brilliancy that few pianists can boast of. The infant drummer-boy from Wisconsin accompanies the popular airs played on the fife, and the illuminated fountain changes in color.”
