“CONSECRATION OF A JEWISH SYNAGOGUE.—The new Jewish synagogue of the congregation ‘Ahaveth Chesed,’ corner of Avenue C and Fourth-street, was consecrated yesterday afternoon, with the ceremonies of the Hebrew Church. The building was formerly owned by the Avenue C Presbyterian Church, but since its purchase by the Jewish congregation it has been entirely renovated, refitted and decorated, and will now seat about 600 persons. . . . The music peculiar to the occasion was rendered by an excellent choir, under the direction of Mr. Webber, of the Temple.”
