Review: New York Clipper, 11 June 1864, 70.
“[The] performance commenced with ‘A Day after the Wedding’ [but titled ‘A Wife’s Lesson’ in the bills].  Lotta then appeared with a song, accompanying her self on the banjo.  She was loudly encored and gave an Irish jig.  She was on the bills for a Chinese dance, (but did not appear as Ye Celestial) and the Yankee farce of ‘Our Jemimy’ finished that evening’s performance.  The claquers were in full attendance on Friday night, and applauded and stamped most outrageously.  The paying portion of the audience, we apprehend, was very small.”
