“‘The Duke’s Motto,’ with manager Wheatly [sic] in his great character of Lagardere, had a capital week of it at Niblo’s, the drama not having lost any of its attractive qualities since it was first presented to a New York audience last season. It would run successfully for some time longer, but engagements previously entered into with the Richings’ Opera Troupe compelled its withdrawal on the 27th.”
