Review: New-York Times, 12 September 1864, 5.
No mention of music. “Mrs. John Wood’s charming little establishment was reopened to the public on last Monday evening. There was a pelting and persistent rain storm outside, and the numbers within were of course affected by it; nevertheless the audience was brilliant. . . . The regular theatrical ‘season’ commenced with the reopening of the Olympic. . . . [T]he opening of the season deserves this year to be memorable. It was the occasion for raising the prices. All the Broadway theatres with a single exception have added fifty per cent, to their charges for admission. The necessity for this measure has been fully recognized by the public, and no diminution of patronage has been noticeable in consequence of it.”

Review: New York Clipper, 17 September 1864, 182.
Reviews of both plays, but no mention of music. Good review of Hoslton. “Mrs. John Wood commenced the fall and winter season on the 5th inst. The announcement of the opening drew together a two-thirds house, which, considering the weather . . . and the extraordinary attractions at the other theatres, was a most excellent turn out.”
