Review: New-York Times, 24 January 1864, 8.
“Mr. Halliday, the Superintendent, acted as chairman, and several members of his family constituted a quartette choir which, with a piano accompaniment, led the performance. The music included instrumental solos, comic songs, chorus songs, &c., which were rendered with much spirit and success. But the most interesting part of the performance was that of the children. Two of the little girls sang several duets with remarkable truth and ease. The whole of them joined with most edifying and vigorous enthusiasm in the choruses.”
