Announcement: New York Clipper, 28 May 1864, 54.
“Five Ethiopian Comedians are now under engagement to Mr. Wood, of Wood’s Minstrels, forming as large and as talented a combination of funny talent as can be found with any other organization in the world.  This quintette of mirth comprises Frank Brower, an actor in every sense of the word, and at present without a superior in his specialty.  Charley Fox, an eccentric performer of considerable merit when he is in the vein; J.T. Boyce, a very clever end man, and equal on the stump to Ann Dickinson; W.H. Budworth, handy on the end, or in special acts with the banjo, etc; and last, but by no means inferior, Frank Moran, who has just been engaged, and who will make his first appearance with the company on the 25th inst.  With this extraordinary comic force and a quartette of very good vocalists, with equally talented instrumentalists, Wood’s Minstrels may now take rank with the best troupe in existence.”

“Frank Moran made his appearance with Wood’s Minstrels last week, and got off some very good things.”
