The explosion of earth in front of Petersburg can only be equaled in the strength of its report by the explosion of mirth at Campbell’s Minstrels.  In the former, however, the results of Mr. Grant’s explosion were destructive and distressing, while in the latter they are instructive and a blessing, amusing instead of depressing, cheering instead of demoralizing.  In Grant’s performance ‘some one has blundered,’ in Campbell’s every man is up to time, and up in his part, and that is why there is no failure there.  The Campbell’s keep going remarkably well, making rapid strides, gaining new friends at every step, and increasing in favor with each performance.”
