“The Old Bowery certainly is a favorite place with the boys; yes, and with older people, too, as the crowded state of the house during the past season fully testifies.  A more prosperous season than the past we do not believe was ever experienced in the old house before, and to the energy of Mr. Fox and his able assistants is this success to be attributed. New pieces have succeeded new pieces the season through, and though they may not have been of that refined character which some of the Broadway houses seem to favor, yet they were of the style which satisfies the tastes of the east-siders. There is one thing about the Old Bowery which we like, and that is, the variety of pieces offered, embracing pantomime, tragedy, comedy, dramady, [sic] farcedy, [sic] and a little of all other sorts.”
