PEOPLE NOTE. Charley Fox, Ethiopian comedian, died on 12/12/1864. Fox was born in Brooklyn 11/18/1828. He was a member of Wood’s Minstrels. His first public performance was as a violinist in an amateur company, Fox’s African Minstrels, in1848. He toured, then joined Hooley’s Minstrels in 1861. “When Wood opened his Marble Building, Fox was engaged as tambo and end man.”
