“The usual Saturday afternoon concert was better attended yesterday than for several weeks past, doubtless in consequence of the pleasant weather.  Between sixty and seventy thousand pedestrians were present.”

"The Park Concert.--The concert at the Park on Saturday attracted the usual crowds of equestrian and pedestrian listeners though there was by no means so large an assemblage as we have seen on former occasions. After all, grumble as we please about the heat, nothing gives such a charm to the landscape as the bright and cheerful sunlight, and on Saturday, though the temperature was all that could be wished, yet--the leaden hue of the sky seemed to have a depressing effect on the whole scene and the spectators. The musical programme was judicious as usual and performed with the general excellence of execution that distinguishes Dodworth's Band."
