“We are glad to hear that Mr. Robert Goldbeck has another orchestral work in readiness for the present season. It is a dramatic tone-picture in the style of Liszt’s ‘Preludes,’ but somewhat longer than that work. The subject is Burger’s well-known poem of ‘Leonore,’ which admits of varied and highly dramatic treatment. Mr. Goldbeck’s success as a symphonic writer renders any new effort from his pen a matter of interest to the cognescenti. The Philharmonic Society will, we are sure, consult the inclination of their subscribers by presenting ‘Leonore’ to the public. No other novelty of equal importance presents itself for the current season.”
