Review: New York Herald, 28 August 1864, 4.
The concert “was attended by about as many pedestrians as on the previous Saturday [which had been “between sixty and seventy thousand”], but the carriages were less numerous.  The programme had a fine selection of pieces, and the performance, judging from the applause, gave great satisfaction.”
