“This Purim Ball is the fourth annual ball of the Israelite society, under the name of the Purim Association; a decked out, costumed, masked ball. It’s one of the most glittering gatherings of the winter. Jewish comeliness is displayed there in all its luster—and with all it diamonds—two familiar splendors of the children of Israel. It’s a pretty enough prize, with which not a few Christians would be satisfied.”
