“The demand for its repetition is so imperative that the management is compelled to repeat it.  The attendance grows larger at each representation, and it must be considered as the great success of the season.”

Crispino given “to a very good audience last night in the same faultless manner as before. . . . The trio of the doctors was duly encored, and the finale of the second act was enthusiastically received.”

Review: New-York Daily Tribune, 14 November 1865, 5.

“[A] full and most fashionable audience. . . . We thought the performance of the same opera at the Matinee on Saturday was the most spirited we had yet seen; but last night the performers seemed to throw a perfect abandon into their characters, imparting to each a reality which gave it a positive vitality.  They all did so admirably that to individualize one for praise would be to wrong the others, who are equally deserving of admiration.  It was really a charming and brilliant performance, and as such would bear repetition many and many a time.”
