“‘Crispino e la Comare’ was given last night to an enthusiastic audience, who seemed to forget the inclemency of the weather by the really excellent performance. The finale of the first act was encored, and the curtain had to be raised again in order to satisfy the demand for a repetition. The same applause was bestowed on the other favorite members of the opera.”

Review: New York Post, 22 November 1865.
“The popularity of ‘Crispino’ was put to a test last night and survived it admirably. Notwithstanding the exceedingly unpleasant weather, the work had vitality enough to attract a large and showy audience. It was charmingly performed; Kellogg, Bellini and Rovere being in unusually good spirits.”
