“The Opera of Ernani was performed last night . . . to a larger audience than could have been reasonably expected, considering the state of the weather. The strength of the cast was much increased by the addition of Bellini an [sic] Carlo Quinto. In the charming music allotted to him his fine voice told with admirable effect, and his presence was plainly and pleasurably perceptible in the just balancing of the concerted music. All the artists exerted themselves to the utmost, and the ensemble produced was very excellent.”
