“There was a very large attendance . . . yesterday at the last matinée . . . Both artists played well, although it was evident that Mlle. de Katow was slightly invalided. Mr. Wehli gave, in response to an encore twice repeated, his celebrated composition of ‘God Save the Queen,’ performed with the left hand only, which Queen Victoria insisted upon being repeated several times when the composer played at Buckingham Palace. It is certainly an extraordinary feat, a curiosity which might astonish even a sovereign.”
