This farce was very successful in its ‘Father City’ of Berlin, Germany. However; we cannot fathom why, because to us the piece seems very plain and dull. Only the finale of the second act was amusing enough to produce a lively response of enthusiastic applause and ‘da capo’ calls from the otherwise rather bored audience.
