[T]he programme was entered upon by the execution of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ and other patriotic airs by the band.  The first address . . . was followed by ‘Friendship Galop’ by the orchestra. . . . The ‘Rataplan de la Glenie’ by the band was encored . . . and this in time was followed by singing, by the entire audience, ‘My country, ‘tis of thee.’  This closed the exercises proper.”
