“The first annual picnic of the convention of Irish societies, having for its object the collection of funds for the erection of a protective institution for the benefit and protection of destitute children, will take place at Jones’ Wood tomorrow.  A fine band of music has been engaged for the occasion. . . . The committee have also made every preparation for the enforcement of good order on the grounds during the continuance of the festivities.”
