Review: New-York Daily Tribune, 22 May 1865, 8.

“The Hippotheatron is distinguishing itself as the special preserver of the interests of old English pantomime.  The last effort it has made in this way is unquestionably the best.  ‘The Elixir of Life’ is as neat a specimen of genuine harlequinade as the public have had the opportunity of enjoying; its success was abundant on the opening night, and has since regularly increased.  It is announced for repetition every evening, and on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons.”
