“‘Many a noble heart beats beneath many a raged coat,’ but if you wish to enjoy an evening with the minstrels, go to the hall of the San Francisco troupe, and joy be with you. This band of Ethiopians cannot be surpassed for fine singing, comic fun, inimitable imitations, or niggerisms, generally. The quartet of managers—the three B’s and the one W—make a team that never baulk. It is good to be a minstrel manager these days.”
