“The Mercantile Library Association held its forty-fourth annual meeting at their hall in Astor-place last evening. Several interesting reports were read, showing the prosperity of the organization. The society now has over 73,000 volumes of books, and the list shows that there are over 6,000 paying members. Interesting speeches were made by Hon. Judge Daly and Messrs. Lathers, Prime, Dodge and Hunt. The proceedings were enlivened by excellent music, furnished by Dodworth’s Band.”
