Review: New York Herald, 02 September 1865, 4.

“At an early hour of the morning the members of the company, some forty in number, assembled at their armory in Fourth street, and forming in line broke into platoons, and, Grafulla’s Seventh regiment band at their head, proceeded to the pier. . . . [T]he votaries of the Terpsichorean art gaily tripped the ‘light fantastic,’ and in wit and song enjoyed themselves to their hearts' content throughout the day. . . . [N]early one thousand persons participated in the excursion.”
