In the present disorganized condition of the musical profession it is gratifying to know that a first-class orchestra can be obtained for concerts, commencements, &c, on application to Theodore Thomas, at Steinway’s rooms.  No better recommendation is needed than Mr. Thomas’s name.  The performances of this orchestra at the Symphonic Soireés have given it a high reputation.”

Public Announcement of Theodore Thomas announcing that from now on, he is providing large and small orchestras for hire for a diversity of events such as exhibits, weddings, parties, public exams, balls and private parties. Thomas is explaining how accomplished musicians were often forced to leave the city in the winter months, because there was neither sufficient and nor stable work for them in the city. Now Thomas has founded an organization that offers his orchestra for hire even for smaller events, so that the accomplished musicians will have work throughout the year. In addition the smaller events will have access to quality music rather than second class musicians as it used to be. Thomas has already made arrangements with the musicians and is prepared and fully available from now on. Orders for hire can be made at Steinway & Sons, 71 & 73 East 14th Street and at Mason & Hamlin, 596 Broadway.
