Concluding paragraph of a review of a Central Park concert.

"In again commending the judgment which directs the Saturday Concerts, we add the hope that next year the public may be still more diverted by the performances of a band something like those which play in several of the European capitals—a company numbering from 60 to 100 instruments. The present scheme is a good one, but the one proposed would be much better; and it certainly seems absurd to suppose that the metropolis of America cannot adequately sustain any place of meritorious public recreation, which many of the sixth-rate cities of the Old World liberally indorse. The praise of our present concerts is in every person’s mouth, because it is the best thing of the kind we have ever known; but when there is something in the world yet better, it certainly seems that we of New-York should know of and enjoy it.”
