     Includes a description of the purpose of the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Library Committee.  “…To secure the necessary ‘fund’ for the above purposes, the Committee offer to the public a ‘grand patriotic, vocal and instrumental concert,’ at the Cooper Institute, on Wednesday evening, May 17.  The entertainment will consist of the new music of the day, popularly rendered by the ‘Union (Anderson’s) Glee Club,’ assisted by eminent lady amateurs.  We commend this entertainment to the patronage of our friends and the public, and bespeak a large and appreciative audience.”
