Also includes a description of some of the non-musical events.  “The Festival of the Workingmen’s Union was continued through yesterday, and was expected by many not to terminate until this evening.  The class of people who are represented by the Trades’ Societies composing this Union are not disposed to terminate a half-day at the setting of the sun, and certainly the enjoyment which we witnessed yesterday would seem to give reason for extension of time.  Very few or no arrests disturbed the peace of the day.  The young women quadrilled and waltzed and promenaded, until their faces betokened a weariness to which their resolution was dually obliged to yield.  The day was quite warm for dancing, but ‘Christmas comes but once a year,’ and the young people evidently meant to make the best of this occasion.”
