“THE MUSIC. The organ service was in keeping with the solemnity of the occasion, and was under the direction of Mr. G. Schmitz, who selected Mandenichi’s mass in G for performance by the instrument and choir. The solos, which were in soprano by Madame Chome—who had volunteered her services—and Mrs. F. Gross, embraced the Domine Deus, Et Incarnatus, Ave Maria and Benedictus, the last being a composition of Mr. Schmitz, the organist. The duet Laudamus Te was sung by Messrs. H. Schmitz, tenor, and Hensler, baritone, all assisted by an excellent choir.”
