“‘The Last Nail, or the Fairies of the Laughing Waters,’ a new and original fairy musical, pantomimical spectacle, is the holiday attraction prepared by Manager Butler, with which to amuse the patrons of that popular resort, 444 Broadway. New scenery, showy costumes, novel effects, startling mechanical contrivances, etc., have been for some time in preparation, in order that the spectacle may be presented in a proper manner. During the progress of the new piece, the ballet corps of this establishment will appear in some of their choicest dances and tableaux. All this, mind you in addition to the singing, dancing, negro eccentricities, etc. by the forces belonging to the ‘figury 4’s’.”
“In this great holiday spectacle there are mortals, mystic spirits, and demons. The latter generally follow the former where they make a too free use of the spirits. They have had real holiday times at this famous holiday resort, the place being crowded nightly. Despite the bad weather of New Year’s day, Manager Butler had upwards of two thousand calls, the visitors enjoying themselves in the most exuberant and enthusiastic style.”
