Review: New York Post, 10 April 1865.

“Two amateur concerts—important as showing the high cultivation of music in our social circles—took place last week. The first, on Wednesday, was given at Steinway’s rooms by the pupils of Mr. Franz Schlatter, and consisted chiefly of pianoforte playing of a high degree of execution. One young lady played some of the music of Liszt in a style worthy of our most brilliant professional pianists. This concert was very fashionably attended.”
