     “At vespers yesterday (Palm Sunday), Rossini’s Stabat Mater was given in St. Ann’s Church, Astor Place, under the direction of Mr. Dachauer, organist of the church. There was a very large attendance, and the aisles, as well as the pews, were densely crowded. The choir was admirable, and Mr. Dachauer’s accompaniment was very fine. The interior of St. Ann’s, by-the-way, has been recently restored and redecorated. The altars are exceedingly chaste and beautiful, and the new decorations and improvements render this fine old edifice one of the most attractive in the city.”
