“Last night these artists gave their farewell evening concert at Irving Hall.  Considering that it is Holy Week, the attendance was very large.  After Mr. Wehli had played his first selections, and received the usual honor of an encore, there was a pause in the programme.  After much delay, Mr. Wehli came forward and announced that Mlle. De Katow had just received information that her father had died suddenly, and that it would be impossible for her to appear, at the same time saying, that he would play a piece to supply her place.  Mr. Wehli played superbly on this occasion. He seemed to feel that the burden of the entertainment had fallen upon him and exerted himself accordingly.”
