Announcement: New York Herald, 05 March 1866, 8.

“Tony Pastor will produce . . . an entirely new and original sensation drama, founded upon incidents in General Grant’s campaigns, and entitled the Capture of Fort Donelson.  He also announces two first appearances—Mr. Johnny Boyce, a favorite Ethiopian comedian, and Miss Lottie La Point, a well known danseuse.  Tony Pastor himself will come out with another new song, ‘The Ballet Girls.’  Among other fine things in the programme are the Difficulties of a Dentist, Carlton’s celebrated original Irish Cure, Historical Reminiscences, and Les Miserables.  Song in dance in abundance follow.”

Review: New York Clipper, 17 March 1866, 390.

“All these afterpieces are not only carefully placed upon the stage at this establishment, but are well acted by the variety company. Wm. Carleton, the new Irish Vocalist, mentioned in our last, continues to improve every night. Already he has given evidence of possessing considerable ability, and the equal of any that has visited this country for many years, and in some respects their superior.”
