“The grand spectacular drama of ‘Moses, or Israel in Egypt,’ which has been produced at Barnum’s Museum, with a magnificence of scenery and costume which has astonished the town, continues its successful career, and bids fair to hold possession of the stage for weeks to come. Founded upon Prof. Ingraham’s well-known work, entitled, the ‘Pillar of Fire,’ some of the most prominent incidents connected with the life of the great Hebrew leader, and the escape of the Israelites from the bondage of the Egyptians, are woven into this play in such a manner as to illustrate in a pleasing and effective manner one of the most noteworthy epochs of sacred history. The scenery and costumes are of the most superb description, while excellent taste and judgment has been displayed in the arrangement of the procession and tableaux, which forms one of the most attractive features of the spectacle.  The moving panorama of Egypt, which is effectively introduced in the first act, is universally acknowledged to be one of the finest scenic productions ever witnessed in this country, and may be seen again and again with real pleasure. . . . No one should fail to see ‘Moses.’”
