F. L. Ritter published his first compositions: songs, a prelude and a scherzo. The last mentioned is excluded from being played by amateurs due to its level of difficulty. The other compositions are written with a Schumannesque flavor with the unmistakable fervor to it. A friend of the composer wrote to us warmly about the romantic flair of the compositions that has only been found among the most beautiful works of Schumann. Moreover, there would be a freshness to it which catches the attention. It has long been since something so lovely had emerged, his friend wrote.
