“Niblo’s Garden, that is, the theatre on the site of what was once known as Niblo’s Garden, will be torn out, it is reported, after another season, in order to give the hotel more room. Mr. S., who is also owner of the Parsonage, on Broadway, called Lucy Rushton’s Theatre, also intends tearing the present edifice to the ground and erecting thereon one of the most magnificent theatres in the country, to run back to Lafayette Place, with a frontage on Broadway, and to be known as Niblo’s Garden.  It is time that the Parsonage was removed, for a more unsightly looking building devoted to the drama would be hard to find.”
