“As a burlesque intended to provoke fun, ‘Valiant Valentine’ is a valiant [illeg.]; it fails to evoke laughter by a legitimate burlesque of human action or wit or dialogue.  There are quite a number of Nigger melodies introduced, and parodies of popular songs, one of which, on the ‘Wearing of the Dress,’ by Miss Rushton, was well sung, receiving the compliment of an encore, another hit was a breakdown of a parody on one of the latest Ethiopian eccentricities.”
