Article on Translation of Bristow's Opera Rip Van Winkle into Italian

     “The translation into Italian of this American opera [Rip Van Winkle] is now completed, and the new recitatives which had to be adapted to the dialogue of the original libretto, are in the hands of the copyist. Mr. Bristow has worked indefatigably in order to meet Mr. Maretzek’s desire to produce the Opera this Spring.  There is a wide-spread interest expressed in regard to the production of this opera, and Mr. Maretzek’s offer to produce it is a movement both popular and politic.”
